Summer TBR
Welcome back, reader
Let's go over summer plans, shall we?
I've already finished one book in June, though it was not one I started in June. I'll talk about A Honeybee Heart Has Five Chambers by Helen Jukes in my Summer Wrap Up, however, so let's move on.
In the past I've strayed very far from my TBR lists. Perhaps you might have been able to tell, reader, by how often I'll put a book on the list and then never mention it again.
I have always been a mood reader. I'm unsure if there's any other kind, but I'd hate to deny a stranger's truth. I still enjoy the idea of a TBR list so instead I think I'll choose books based on monthly/seasonal themes. That will give boundaries to be flexible within.
I am also planning (fingers crossed) on joining a book club with some of my partner's coworkers. I will also be lurking in blog favorite Chloe bunnie's Fluffle Book Club. June's book is Take a Hint, Dani Brown, a Romance novel I greatly enjoyed and am looking forward to rereading. I haven't read it since 2021 and Dani and Zafir's relationship was so much fun. Talia Hibbert knocked those three books out of the park, so I'm glad to have an excuse to reread it!
On to my plan!
So we have our current Fluffle Book Club Read: Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert (very exciting).
Then, I have picked up Sky Full Of Elephants by Cebo Campbell. I'm on chapter 8 so far and enjoying myself greatly, reader, so that goes on my list.
I will also add two more boxes: a book by a queer author or about a queer experience for Pride Month, and a book focused on Black emancipation for Juneteenth. Right now I'm going with An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon for our Pride Month book and Freedom is a Constant Struggle by Angela Y Davis for Juneteenth. I'm planning on starting Freedom is a Constant Struggle this evening.
So here, reader, is my Summer TBR in all it's glory:
Summer TBR
- Take a Hint Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
- Sky Full of Elephants by Cebo Campbell
- An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon
- Freedom is a Constant Struggle by Angela Y Davis
We shall see what the summer holds, reader.
Stay tuned, reader and my your summer be easy 🎃
